Debbie Glasbergen
Debbie has a passion for reaching out to people to meet their needs. She coordinates our Outreach efforts and helps to develop, in the people of Discovery Church, a heart to reach out to those who do not yet know about Jesus. She is also responsible for the Love Clarington Ministry that focuses on serving our community at large.


 

 

                                                                                                                                                   
Worship Ministry Director
Jackie DeHaas
Worship is Jack ie’s passion and her talents in the area of music equip her well to
provide leadership to our worship teams. She coordinates our volunteers and arranges the details for worship each Sunday morning.

 

 


 

 

 Discovery Groups Ministry Director
"Small Groups" within Discovery Church describe people that come together for either a common interest or for learning, such as a Bible study or Alpha. Janice provides support to the various small group leaders.


 


 Youth Ministries Director
Ben Bronsema
Ben, a former teacher and a founding member of Discovery Church, brings leadership to the various children’s and youth ministries from Discovery Tots (Nursery) to A.C.I.D. Youth Ministry (High school).

 

In the year 2000, a group of leaders from Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, were invited to attend a conference at Wooddale Church in Minneapolis, MN.  Wooddale is a large, healthy, growing church much like many others except for one key difference. It has church-planting running through its veins. In fact, it has helped plant nine other new churches out of its own congregation over the last 20 years.

From this conference, Rehoboth CRC began looking into the possibility of planting a new church in the Municipality of Clarington.

In May 2003, they searched for a missionary pastor.  Martin Spoelstra was interviewed in the fall, and accepted the opportunity to be the church planter.

In May 2005, Pastor Martin began gathering a core group of believers from Rehoboth CRC and the broader Christian Churches in the area to begin the church planting process.

Discovery Church was launched in September 2006, and the rest is history!
